What kind of motor?

Can parts from Yamaha and Mariner be used on either motor? I bought a 30hp mariner a few years ago but there is only 6 serial numbers with no letters. Some one said it could be a Yamaha with a mariner cover. Any idea's?<br />Also trying to find year of motor.

yamaha is only yamaha ,marina and force are mercury marine

Wrong, my 30 hp Mariner is a yamaha motor and water pump and lower unit is yamaha too i belive. <br /><br />I went to go buy a water pump kit for my mariner, and the yamaha was the same. Thats the only knowledge I have about exchanging parts first hand.<br />-John

Mariner is a murky brand. If it says "Made in Japan" on the engine, then it was made by Yamaha (although some of these have Merc lower units)...<br /><br />Other Mariners were Mercs without oil injection, or older designs (that were still good 'uns).<br /><br />Anyhow, you could buy the part(s), and if it doesn't fit, take it back!
