what kind of motor is this, and what is the value?

Does anybody know what kind of motor this is - I have an old electric motor that is red on top and aluminum on bottom,it weighs about 50lbs and is in great condition! the only writing we can find on it reads -------ELECTROL.It seems to be made in the late 40's or 50's. If anyone could tell us any information on this motor, we would really appreciate it !!!!<br /> Randy
