Hey Fellows and Ladies,

The kind of grease applicator that I have is wierd, it is clear and the grease "***" is in the very center, you fill it untill greases come out of a hole in the bottom letting you know that it is full. Anyone know what this is called and does that extend the time that you have to change the bearings? I read a post on "pushing and pulling" the tire after the boat is launched and I will try that. any more suggestions? Thanks.

Sounds like a type of bearing buddies to me. Grease in hub has spring pressure to force water out. To check your bearings first check temp after a long run. At home jack up wheel and spin listen for noise and ruffness. Grab wheel and rock top to bottom or side to side to check for play. If hear niose then must figure if brake or bearing. Only way I know to do that is pull wheel and clean and check bearings and races. When reinstall tighten nut with pliers and turn wheel a couple of turns, then loosen nut and tighten finger tight. If cotter pin will not fit then loosen to first hole.

They have them at BoatUS.

Made by Fulton, a big marine accessory manufacturer, under the "Wesbar" brand. Very similar to Bearing Buddy, but transparent, and can be removed more easily.
