I took some photos of the outdrive today after doing some engine work on my 470 and I came across this stuff......
It's the first photo that has me baffled there's a hole in my gimble that doesn't really need to be there....maybe a former mounting of some kind ????? The corrosion on my gimble is another big issue for me too. What causes this much and how to prevent it from getting this bad again?

i see a ripped exaust boot, non-critical.might want to rerplace all the rubber back there.

I already bought the kit to do that, including gaskets and bearing, but it was the hole that looks like a 22 cal round went through.... odd

That hole is for when you install the clamp for the exaust boot, you use a long screwdriver.
check the wiring for the trim sender,m almost sure you`ll find it damaged, this would put 12v into the water when the key is in the "on" position.

The triim senders once I take em out how do I realign em? What would I need to look for if they need replaced?

sounds like you need a manual, you could start a new thread asking for a link to download one, i do not have it

if the wires are chaffed or broken, or the sender unit(s) do not work - replace them

I gave him a link to the service manual for the drive up in reply #5. All he has to do is download it and read.

Sorry guys I didn't have my required levels of caffine, I read the article on the link provided (thanks Don) this evening and have it now. I appreciate it fellas.
