I just got my replacement alternator today, and I noticed an extra spade-type plug just off the center at the back of the alternator.

It's marked with a lettter 'P'
What is this for?

My original alternator only has a battery lug, ground lug and a 2-pin plug that snaps into place.

This new alternator suppose to be a direct replacement. It also has the battery, ground and the 2-pin plug, but I have no idea what the spade plug is for. I hope I didn't get the wrong alternator?

My original alternator was Mercruiser part # 862031 (Delco)
My replacement is: Delco 19020609 7SI series.

Thanks,

H.

Anyone? Did I stump all of you?

:)

I'm guessing the extra plug might be for a automatic choke or?

I'll hook it up tonight and see.

H.
