I have a 2005 125 merc 2 stroke. The previous owner just had a powerhead put on. It started to idle way slow and stall when put in gear. There is a black bar on the port side of the motor. On it is a screw with a plastic knob labelled idle speed adj. below that, and the only thing on same bar, is a bolt with a lock nut and a plastic tip on other end. This had vibrated loose and was not locked. Anybody know what this is or is called? It looks like a throttle stop?

There are three adjustment points on that throttle linkage. One is for idle speed and the other is for WOT timing. The other is the idle throttle stop. If your WOT timing has changed you need to set it properly.

The idle timing is just set to where you can idle in the water in gear at 700-800 RPM or so.
