I am looking for the optimum boat for flyfishing in New England coastal and inshore waters -- specifically Narragansett Bay in RI.

I have a 19 foot center console Wahoo with a 125 hp Mariner motor, both of which bought in 1997. The boat works well for fly fishing, but it is very hard riding in 1-3 waves common in Narragansett Bay. I'm looking to upsize to a boat having the following characteristics:
Length: 21-23 feet
Ride: Needs to be smooth in 1-3 foot waves
Motor: Four Stroke
Head: Yes
Layout: Center Console with plenty of open deck space fore and aft (for fly line at my feet).

Sorta depends how deep your pockets are cause there's plenty to choose from for sure.

My opinion on the choice would be something in a 'multi-species' deep-v w/o the hieght obstruction a c/c posesses for casting purposes ... but then you're out the head compartment..

I'll go to my corner.

minus the "head" part, many choices... now, I have
seen a few new, open bow "bay" boats with a nice
head integrated below C/console though...
these are not a true/open layout really.
safe boating,
M.Y.

I am definitely thinking center console, which is not a problem for fly casting (assuming no T top). There are several CC boats in the 20-23 foot range that have heads. What I'm really trying to nail down is which CC boat with a head is the biggest bang for the buck in the $30,000-45,000 range (assuming a four stroke Japanese motor) in terms of ride in 1-3 foot waves and all-around wonderfulness. Leave out Whaler and Grady-White, and what is the next best thing?
