What is the original shifter for mercruiser 120 with alpha drive from the late 70's?

I have an old mercruiser 120 and it came with a mercontrol from what I've found, online, to belong to an outboard. I am in the process of rewiring my newly acquired old boat and want to do it right. Does anyone know what the original shifter for these stern drive and/or motors is? All of this is on an 18' apollo runabout with in dash gauges and ignition.

Here is an old 71 owners manual a guy posted some time back, there are pictures of the controls used on those engines.
