Everybody has their own flavor for wheel bearing grease(just like oil). I use Pennzoil marine grease. I like it because when I service my trailer(w/ the Spindle Lube system) it's easy to tell when the old grease has been replaced by new grease. It lasts, and the hubs get just a little warm so I know it's working. Plus I can get it at Walmart for $2.44.

Dutch

Marine grade works good and is a bit more sticky on the shafts. Good against water. I use bearing buddies and just keep them filled and about every other trip I give them a shot or two of gease just for insurance.

Have not burned a bearing in since my first BAD experiance over 22 years ago.

Bob

Thanks for the input gentlemen.

I bought some Penzoil marine grade full synthetic white grease from Wal Mart (thanks Dutch). It claims to be good for trailer axle shafts.

Additionally I installed all new bearings (the old ones had several cracked roller bearings). It looks like I checked them out just in time.

I bought my used boat about 6 months ago, and I remember having a trailer wheel come off my boat trailer when I was a much younger man. The wheel came off the drivers side, and pulled right around like a passing car!!! I never want to see that happen again.

I bought some "bearing buddies" made by Fulton - also from Wal Mart. They cost about $10 for the set, and they look to be of pretty good quality. I like the way they fit.

Best Regards to all, Gold Bear ;)
