1994 Fisher pontoon with what appears to be entry pipes to chambers (3) on each side, on the top. What are these for?

Re: what is it?

Asking a specific question on a part without pictures is rough.

But as mentioned, it sounds like the vent plugs on the pontoons. There are there from when the toon was built and help in finding if your toon has leaks.

Re: what is it?

thanks guys, I have tried to insert a picture but for some reason am not successful.. have also sent a couple pm's to a couple of you. These are like 2" pipe risers with simple male pipe plug inserts. I too thought they may have been part of the test procedure during manufacturing as they don't seem to serve any other purpose.
thanks for your help

Testing pic upload...

OK, got it. DABS has pm'd me and I emailed him. If he will send me pic I will upload it.

DABS... If you click on "Insert Image" icon (3 left of the ABC spell check) it will open a box. select the file and upload it from your computer. I can go back through and offer more detail if needed.

Photo of plugs in question.

Appear to me to be the pressure test plugs for manufacturing process.

Hmmmm, If you remove the plug, can you see into the 'toon, or are they just surfaced welded?? If surfaced welded, could be for home brew shade???

Good Luck

Re: what is it?

Although the picture is deceiving, this is on top of the pontoon but below the deck. You would have to use a mirror to see down in there once the plug is removed. I too thought it might be for some add on device but there is simply no room for much more than your hand. Also, there are 3 chambers in each pontoon and one of these on each chamber, leaving me to think that it is a pressure test plug. We'll take the plug out this weekend and see if it goes all the way down into the tank.

Re: what is it?

I would bet that they are vents plugs. Just a different design. They look to be from the factory. There are advantages to having them raised. I looked at an older 70's Kayot pontoon that had these on the back of the pontoon...was more like a pipe fitting though, was beefy

Having three of them seems right - you should have 3 chambers in each toon.

Re: what is it?

My 2013 Sun Tracker has similar plugs. They are non-vented plugs like yours. These ports are used for pressure testing the chambers when the pontoon is manufactured, and can be used to facilitate leak checking later in the pontoon's life, should the need arise.
