What is it?

Okay, I have attached two images of something that I have no clue what it is. It is near the transom on a recently acquired 1982 Ranger 375-V with a 1993 Mercury 150 hp motor. There is a wire that apparently lead up to the dash connected to this object that there is nothing that connects it to the engine. Take a look at both images and tell me what I have.

Looks like an antenna for ... ???

It does look like an antenna connection with those BNC connectors on each end.Possibly from a CB radio or VHF marine radio.
