On a couple of the Outdoor channel shows I have noticed mounted on the transom of a couple bass and flats boats what looks like a pole or something about 4" in diameter and maybe 3' long or longer mounted vertically fastened on the right side of the motor on the transom, what is it for???

Like this? It's a Power Pole, a hydraulic shallow water anchor.

That is impressive but I bet my 6 lbs of lead and 50" of nylon rope to hold my position is a lot cheaper...lol..where would one find one on the internet?...

There's a couple different models but I think list is around 1300. I have the remote control on mine and if you'll look close you'll see it bolts to a bracket rather than the transom. The bracket goes between the jackplate and the transom and uses the existing holes. No new holes.

Do a search for "power pole" and you'll come up with their website (powerpole.com maybe) and they have a reference to dealers. I'd be surprised if Iboats doesn't sell them actually.
