What is in that TACKEL BOX....good ?

I cleaned my box out and there where bits of this and that..why was I saving this and that. Than the prize a lure I maded from metal when I was ..maybe eleven..I was watching fish striking yellow leaves so I made a yellow lure. That is in the box never to be used.<br />???Now what do you have in the box that has meaning to you...may not even be related to fishing... how did that get in there and why have I keep this all thoses years...or just make a statement about the tackle box or boxes???<br /><br />This is a fun topic and will be intresting .... what is really in the tacke box? tackle boxes?<br /><br /> PS. Hmmmmm. <br /><br />Here is the 18S Rapala on which my son caught his first musky, a 36"er. That was about 1978. He was 12, I think.<br /><br />And this little Bagley's DDKB-2 in fire tiger is the one on which I caught 6 walleyes, a musky and 2 big smallies in about a 2 hour period on LOTW in 1995.<br /><br />This Amabassaduer 7000 is the one with which I caught a 275lb blue marlin off Ft. Lauderdale in 1983 while casting this Krocodile 1oz. spoon for Mahimahi.<br /><br />And, of course, this is my homemade Esox Doom in yellow and green on which I have caught numerous musky, snakes (northern pike),walleye and smallies on LOTW.<br /><br />There are more memories here, but I will save them for later.

If I run into "junk" in my tackle box I just consider it something I'm not using at the moment. Actually I have a seperate tackle box for these weights, syringes, leaders, set-ups, junk, etc. that I rarely use. Yeah I said syringes. actually I only keep one in the box. works great for puffing up crawlers when fishing for walleye, crappie gills & such. I carry five boxes in my boat. One box is just for fishing line. another for soft baits, another for terminal tackle, one for body baits and one box just for Samon & Trout trolling. It's all junk to my wife so I reckon one man's garbage.....When I was a kid fishing in the neighbors pond my brother caught a huge bass off of some fishing line, a plastic orange bead and some pond grass. "Junk".. a magical moment in his young life for sure. You just never know...

I've got two old lures that my grandmother told me belonged to her father. They have got to be pushing 90 years old. I'll never fish with them, but they have always been in my tackle box, and are still in my tackle box. And I have a bunch of old jigs with the paint beat off them. But every time I try to throw one out, I think man,,, I caught a bunch of fish on this one, and I put it back in my box. My solution to having too much crap in my tackle box was to buy another tackle box. I know, I know,,,, this strategy will not work forever.

"Esox Doom" That's sweet JB. Musky lures have the best names!!! One of my favorites is an inline buzzbait called the Grim Reaper. <br /><br />I'm too new to fishing to have anything that has a lot of history attached to it, but my crappie colored shallow invader is particularly meaningful, as it helped me catch that musky in my avatar -- biggest fish so far...

I have the crankbait that I won from JB for naming his jalopy. Still in the card. I have a lure my dad was going to "Throw in the damn lake" Because it was not working right. Turns out he had it on backwards. (long story) I also have the lure I promised to send to LD about a month ago and never did yet.

My tackle box is a mess and it is to cold to go out in the garage and get it just to post it on iboats. Maybe later, I really should clean it out. I do know I have one lure in there that I found in a tree.

The thoughts we have are part of our spirit and must not be forgotten.When your out there waiting for that strike we have time to the recall moments those objects remind us of.<br />Christmas is comming why not have a small tree with your lures hanging on it.
