Bad thing is the two rivers that feed into it do not go very far north, and we have had less than an inch of rain since January!!!

Anyway, despite all the rain and nasty weather north of us, we are dry, grass is dying, fires and burn bans, and the lake is drying up.

Water is "normally" up to that center board on the bulkheads, or a bit higher. There has never been a beach here, at all...

No wonder I nicked the crap out of my prop last weekend. I think I was sucking up mud and small clamshells and putting little nicks in my fresh prop...:(

I wish I could send you some of our rain. All the rivers are high, and the fields are soaked. A lot of crops will be in late this year because of the rain.

well if you can find away to get it from Oregon to Texas, we have plenty here. All of our lake and reservoirs, rivers are full! And this week there even talking about snow! Will summer ever get here?

And the bad thing is, this is typical La Nina weather. It will be drought all summer, then late August and in to September we will get nailed with a couple of tropical storms or hurricanes, and be flooding.

We need to set up a pipeline down to you. :)

This is a pic of my lake (Sebago ME) taken last weekend. The previous weekend the water was 6-8 inches lower. As you can see the dock is a few inches from being submerged.

I have seen ours look like that MANY times, but never dried up like it is now.

I may have to look into making the hour drive to the next closest lakes, Conroe and Livingston.

Irritating, since we specifically built our new house here so we could be right near our lake! Only been here since December.

Take advantage of the low water and walk the dry areas looking for lost anchors and any other valuables you might find.

I have been doing exactly that. But finding nothing of any value. Plastic buckets, tires, and a lot of clamshells. I was not aware there were this many different kinds of clams in this lake. I knew we had some really big ones, about fist-sized, but now that water is low, I am finding a LOT of small thumb-nail sized shells. What you see in the pictures is pretty much what there is out here, at least in the dried shallow areas.

I know if you go up toward the bridge at the middle of the lake, there are sunken cars. Before the bridge was built, there was a couple of islands you had to hop across on small bridges, and stolen cars would be dumped off the side. When they built the bridge, they pulled up something like 30 cars, so I know there would be a couple leftover that they missed. That would be cool to come up on.

I am actually quite surprised at how much CRAP is on the bottom of the lake. Makes me leery about jumping over and into knee deep water from now on...

I guess we will have to make the 45-60 minute drive to the next closest lakes, Livingston or Conroe, if we want to do any boating this season. At least until the tropical storms and hurricanes start to hit later in August and September. The lake will fill up then and we will have a fine fall boating season.

We have had so much rain, they can't open the locks on the Rideau Canal. The water is flowing right over them.

Well, since we couldn't use the boat this weekend (likely wouldn't anyway due to the holiday crowds), we put in a pool!

WAY against deed restrictions, but we put it up just for the weekend, and will take it down and store it for a later date. Told the wife it would be awesome set up in the garage during a block party!

Then Tuesday, we will use it to water the yard!

Re: What is happening to my lake? Lake Houston drying up! We need RAIN!!!

It seems it is always an extreme one way or the other. I showed up to my lake only to find the parking lot underwater. According to the Army Corp, my lake is now 8.69 feet above its normal pool. Lucky I got a ride to my boat. Still going to spend the next 3 days on it. Even though I doubt if I'll get on dry land, it isn't going to bother me. I didn't get the boat wet at all last year. Got to make up for lost time. Since April 1st, there has been 57 days with 43 of them being rainy. Sure wish I could show you how to do a successful rain dance. Mine worked too well.......SS

Army Corp did that to this lake back in the 90s. Up 6 or 8 feet. Destroyed many houses, but only the rich folks' places! :D

But since then, they been doing a good job to keep it under control. But they cannot control the water NOT being added. Only what they let off.

And these two "rivers" that flow into this lake maybe go 50 miles inland. Basically, just a bayou that they dammed off and made a water reservoir out of.

Hey scooper 77515 just come to my area if you want lots of rain
In the last month we have had over 8.5" of the D&m stuff
All the people in my apartment complex are asking if I am going to be "NOAH" and if they can hitch a ride if we get any more rain!
