What should the WOT rpm be on a 1979 Volvo Penta AQ255B (GM 350) with a aquamatic 280 outdrive? It is currently about 5000 at 4000 ft elevation. I'd like to gain some max speed for traveling long distances and am not too concerned about losing the ability to tow well or plane out quickly. I also plan to do a lot of boating at lower altitudes which leads me to think that I should get a higher pitched prop for those trips. Unfortunately my current prop has no markings whatsoever to tell me what pitch it is. I'm planning on taking the prop to a prop shop to have them determine it for me. If someone could just tell me the manufacturer's suggested WOT rpm, I should be able to use that to make my own decision on where to go with the new prop. If 5000 is what's reccomended, I may just stay where I'm at, but if the rpm is supposed to be lower, I'll get a higher pitch right? Also, are the Solas Amita propellers under the Aquamatic 280 long hub category of this website's store the ones that will work on my boat (sku 8811-153-19 or 8811-153-21)?
