what would be the expected charging amps for this engine, also there is an plugged off tube coming from the lower unit what is this for? what would be the best repair manual for this engine, i have looked at some and they are for many years, would one just for this engine or limited years

That tube is for a speedometer. OEM manual is by far the best.

The plugged off tube at the front of the lower unit is the speedometer pick up and there are no manuals better that a OEM. Sorry I didn't read the whole post the first time.
