What is a spark tester?

I read reference to a spark tester that states, set it for the spark to jump 7/16s inch.
What is this tester and where can I get one reasonably priced? I also read they can be got for as little as $7.00. Thanks!

just ask the wife to "hold this" and crank er over . distance she jumps directly proportional to the intensity of the spark.

Yep, every outboard owner should have one. It's used for testing the ignition spark. Any auto parts store should have them.

mine is the thingy in my elbow that rips my hand off the wire when i get bit. your sounds to be more accurate, no way of measuring with mine unless you measure the blood that leaks if I snag on something sharp on the way out.

I have a spark tester,it cant be set to different widths.I did heard of google, just googleing spark tester didnt get me one with variable jump settings.Now with help here, I didn't have to search any further, Maybe I should google comedy!! See if they heerd any jokes?
