Just brought a 1983 kingfisher bass boat with a 135hp evinrude and its turned into a night mare tried to fix a broken starter mont and now it won't start at all don't want to pour anymore money into it.But what i need to know... is what would be a good size motor to push this type of boat, note that it will be mostly used for fishing. I live in georgia around the macon area and i will be willing to sell are trade the 135 for parts are as a whole. Help is needed...thanks in advance

70% or greater of the hull's maximum horsepower rating is needed for good performance. You haven't given us much info (length of boat, etc.)

The kingfisher is 16' fiberglass hull not sure of the weight if that helps.. thinking about a 60-90hp to replace the 135 evinrude.

most, if not all boats have a tag located near driver's cockpit for max horsepower. It seems to be a transom thing. All of my buddies want more power but not sure transom will hold up.
