What is a 1989 Force 85 hp and 1989 70hp worth?

I would like to know how much you guys think a 1989 Force 85hp and 70hp outboard motor is worth if the do not run. They both worked a year ago but have been sitting up since then and do not run. They are very clean on the inside and I cant see anything wrong. I have no experiecnce with these things. Im just gonna sell them and use the money to restore my boat. Any responses will be appreciated.

Did you try to start them? If so, what happened?

You'll get a lot more money for them if they start. Not sure what the boat market in your area is like, but a running 85hp prob would fetch $1000+ Not running $400 (in my area anyway)

200 to someone needing parts, or someone that want to try and part them out to make a few bucks.
If they are saltwater motors, you are gonna have to find someone needing the parts.

But wait, the 1989 70 hp is worth much much more, as it is a one-of-a-kind. (they didn't make a 70 hp in 1989)

Thanks for the replies. When I try to start it the motor just clicks. Nothing else happens. The 70hp I haven't tried to start it because I don't even know how. I will check the year agin for the 70hp since an 89 doesn't exist lol. That's what the guy told me it was but he admitted he didn't know anything about motors either. Here's some pics of the motors. The one on the boat is the 85 and the one in the shed is the 70. I don't know if you guys can tell general condition by these pics but I'll post them anyways.

The 70 hp looks to be a 1993 model.

It has a switchbox ignition, new style square fuel pump.

The switchbox does not look to be stock though.

If it is fully functional, including tilt n trim, controls, cables, and wiring harness, it might be worth $700.

If not fully functional, $400.
