What I use to move the boat around the yard.

I use this 18hp Sears tractor to pull the boat around the yard. Had to make a ball mount that is high enough to use with the trailer jack. Works great, just can't make turns as tight as I'm used to (tire hits trailer jack), and the tractor goes up and down the hills with ease in 2nd gear off idle.<br /><br />

Now thats the way to get it done. We moved our boat from the back yard to the driveway today in anticipation of getting on the water soon. I would have taken pictures but we were all busy pushing and pulling it across the soft grass and mud

Created a very similar setup for my 18 Hp Wheel Horse hydrostatic, before that my 16hp Simplicity did the job from 1981 until I got the Wheel Horse.<br /><br />I remember the first time I put my brand new a 4 place covered snowmobile trailer (5,000 lbs loaded) on the Simplicity to try to move it. Started creeping forward in first gear and the trailer didn't even consider moving....the nose of the tractor just started lifting up in the air! From that day forward I had to get the wife to sit on the hood of the tractor to move that beast around the yard! But it was plenty strong enough to do the job...

Hmmmmm... I had an old 12hp Murray that I had taken a grinding tool to the hitch and reamed it out large enough for a ball. The height was a problem though. Moved the 16'er around with no problem though.<br /><br />Now I'm trying to decide how to move my 19' (4-5k on a tandem). Not sure that my new 17hp Hydro can handle it. In a couple years I will upgrade to a 25-26hp, but gotta move the boat till then....

If you have a truck try a front hitch on it. I have one on the Jeep and it works great. Only costs about 125 or so and 6 bolts to put it on!
