I just bought a 14ft fiberglass flats tri hull boat. I don't know the make or model, but I have a picture. Is 25 Hp enough? Im getting a new motor and I'm just trying to save money and cut down power. Thanks , tristan.
Here is a pic of the boat View image: image

It will probably plane with a 25, Mr. T but looking at the pic, I'd go at least 40.
What does the "Max HP" plate say? I think the general consensus is "no less than 75% of max"

I have a 14 foot boat. You'll need 40 HP. Nothing less. 40 Honda is perfect. Our boat weighs 500 lbs plus 300 lbs weight of people. And we can still travel 50 miles.

Agree on the 40. Had the smaller engines on the smaller boats. Bite the bullet and go as the others said. Once you spend the money it's gone. The fun times are ahead. Skimp on the engine and you just have to put up with it and every time you take it out you kick yourself for not getting enough HP. BTDT

How'd it work out that you bought a boat without knowledge of the make/model? Just curious.

My grandma bought it and gave it to me, I'm just trying to help her out and get it set up.
