What hp is my evinrude fastwin! And help with bolt on lower unit!

I just got a used evinrude fastwin on the cowl it says 10hp but the serial is 15014-22579 need some help is it 10 or 15 and is it 1955 year?!?! Anyone can help im new to the boat scene and also my L/U bolt are impossible to take off might have to use a torque wrench

In 1955 there was a 15hp Fastwin and there was no 10hp that year.

Lots of penetrating oil, and some heat may be necessary

I tried heat but not a torch gun maybe that will help to loose the screw maybe the antisieze dried up give me a hard time so 15014 22579 is 15hp right?

What's the model number? Mercury uses the Serial number to determine engine year. OMC used model numbers

15014 is a 15hp. But that doesn't mean it is a 15hp motor. The tags are easy to swap from motor to motor. 10hp and 15hp Evinrude hoods are different size and won't interchange. Look on the powerhead for a round quarter-sized disc with numbers stamped on it. That will give you the real model/serial number. Unless the culprit switched that too (it's easy).

If you post pictures of the motor with the hood off, we can tell you if it is a 10 or 15.

A picture of the starboard (gearshift) side of the powerhead will clear it up, no problem. The two bypass covers on that side of the cylinder are different shape if 10 or 15hp

Ignore the adapter plates in this picture. The red bypass cover is a 10hp. Compare the upper end with the lower end of the bypass cover. On a 15hp, the upper and lower ends are symetrical (or however the heck you spell it).
