Re: What have you given lately

I didn't think I did much for my country or should I say my fellow man but after thinking about it and making a list to post I feel pretty good about myself and decided I didn't need to post it.

Like rolmops, I too perform some charitable and humanitarian activities but shall remain in anonymity and I'm certainly not going to brag about the amount of tax I paid on my income.

As far as the statement "fanaticism that follows the loss of a love one for no good reason", I think unless you've lost a child, not just any beloved relative, you have no perspective to make that statement.

So, BoatBuoy, are you saying that if something happens to your child that you will go make a horses rear out of yourself?
Children die EVERYDAY, but I only see Cindy playing the fool. I sure am glad my parents didn't humiliate themselves and the rest of the family.

I believe most give more than they recognize, a smile, a helping hand, a cheer for a child etc. Overall, we are a pretty good bunch of folks both on right and left.

Well txswinner, I suppose we can both agree on that. Sure is easy to get worked up about the small stuff though. And kinda fun too, sometimes.

Re: What have you given lately

Volunteered for a year as a reserve Police Officer, now I am fulltime, and served 11 years in the Army. I stop and change tires for elderly people with flat tires, I open doors for people. I buy from every school and church drive that the kiddies come to my door for. I stop at the crosswalk when driving to let the people who are standing in the rain get across. I tow people's broke down boats with no expectation of compensation. The list is endless...

15 years as a boy scout and leader, 7 years as an EMT and 3 of those years as a line officer, 10 years as a firefighter, like everone else, open doors, will tow people, will give the shirt off my back if someone really needed. w/o expectation of compensation.
