What have I got?

Hey all, I am buying an old tracker pontoon from my wife's uncle for pretty cheap (IMO), and it has a 35hp mercury on it. I do not have it in my possession yet, but did snap a couple pictures the other day when I looked at it. Anyway, it sounds like it is one to "stay away from", according to a different post here, but was hoping someone could tell me a little more about it?

This will be my first "boat" so I am a complete newbie to outboards. The serial number is 6628719, and I have included a couple pictures. Anyone tell me the age? I am assuming 2 stroke, 50/1 mix (again, I am a newbie)? stuff like that.

Thanks,
Brew

Looking here http://www.maxrules.com/models/Merc_model_files/30-40CYL2.html, it seems to be an '85 2 cylinder.

Does it have anything looking like this, probably in the pod or by the gas tank? The Auto-Blend system has been reported as ...ah...junk by those in the know.

Thanks, I started with that first page for the serial, and I guess I read it wrong or something, but I wasn't sure what year, thanks,

As far as I know, there is nothing like that auto-blend system, my wife's uncle said that the gas tank got stolen a few years ago at the lake, so it might be possible. He did pick up a new tank for it (though never used it) He did just say that he pre-mixed the fuel, so I am assuming that it doesn't have any kind of oil injection system on it. I didn't have a ton of time to inspect it, and will get a better chance when I get it home (hopefully this weekend)

Was that auto-blend system the biggest knock on this motor? If it had it originally, and I just pre-mix the fuel, is that okay?
