Hi all, i am in the process of rebuilding my 1990 force 50,i took the boat out on sunday it was misfireing on bottom plug so took out and water was getting in so head gasket job also the exhaust plate gaskets were leaking abit so anyway i have taken engine apart(due to three head bolts snapping GRRRRRRRR but i am glad to say i was able to drill out 'phew'). what is the best way to lube all the bolts so as not to cause any seizures in the future.i realise it is a reaction with the stainless and aluminium but can it be reduced.i have both marine grease and normal motor grease,or is it just a fact of life living around all this salt water.<br />also is hypoid 90 gear oil ok to use in the gearbox as i was told that is what they put in the yamaha gearboxes?.

Lower unit lube must be made specifically for marine use, as ir will hold up much better when water does get into the gearbox.

For the miniscule difference in price, one would be crazy not to use marine lube in their LU. Only option is synthetic or dino.
