I picked up a pair of 1995 225 loopers, one has counter rotating gearcase.Though both seem to be OK,and I have drained the gear oil, both OK,the counter rotating is much cleaner, the right hand had tilt issues, therefore had been left in the S.Fla.saltwater for a period of time that left it to loose some paint,I also noticed the bering carrier, must have had a zinc anode that is basically gone. There was also a previously broken waterpump bolt broken and the guy drilled and tapped strait through allowing the new bolt to become exposed(ground down,to be less noticeable)that isn't a big problem. My question, the counter rotating gears and berings, from what I remember are quite a bit more costly, and props are not as easily found if I choose to buy used.My intent is to clean up one engine and flip it to help defray some of my project costs.based on what I wrote, what would you experts do regarding the gearcase,go right or left.
