1974 Cobalt I/O with 190HP OMC V8. OMC outdrive to match. Electric shift stringer, right? I have heard so many different thoughts on which lube to use in the outdrive. General conscious has led me to believe that Type C lube in both the upper and lower units is the way to go. When I winterized, that's what I went with. I'm looking for somebody to say... (You dun good) Suggestions if not? As always, thanks!

You're fine with Type C in both, but you only need it in your lower. The lower gear case needs Type C for the electric shift to work properly. The upper gear case and intermediate can use the lube of your choice.

Is there a drain plug on the intermediate housing? I don't see one, and the service manual just says check it, add to it, but nothing about changing the lube. I see the fill plug right up by the boot.

Nope that's it. I use an oil siphon pump to get mine when needed.
