So here is the issue
You have your motor all set up and running great.
The issue is that it is to fast for slow speed or
The water is to shallow to use your motor
How do you launch your boat or pull into a dock or the launch facility or
There is a speed restriction where you are

What do you do

1 Use the old faithfull oars that came with the boat
2. Use a Trolling Motor.
3. Use a Kayak Paddle
4. Something else

My boat idles at about 20 mph so I feel your pain. Without a no wake zone I coast in and glide to the trailer. In no wake area's I start and stop my engine so that full idle speed never happens. Climbing up on the deck and paddling in like this pic shows (not me) is another method I may utilize.

I would say use your oars and don't ever start the engine with it down in shallow water.

I tilt the motor up to it's highest point where it can still draw in water and cruise to ramp. The launch wheels hit the ramp before my motor does.

Yes you know exactly the problem I ran into.
A no wake zone
I also ran into a shallow water launch

Walk the dog! Lol. Waders are your friend!!! Also a handy method when you accidentally "find" a sand bar!

I hear you.
When it is hot it isn't an issue . You just walk out in the water. When it's cold waders to the rescue

I can tilt the motor up and drive in less than 10" of water. If there is concern for a hard bottom prop strike, I push along with my oars, using one person on each side. I also have launch wheels that allow the motor to be all the way down. Otherwise we are often in drysuits, so getting wet is not an issue. Very rarely these days do I even put my trailer in the water.

lol
that is why it is best to just leave your transom launch wheels
deployed in the down position

I use the oars all of the time,
mostly for stealth, for getting
back into shallow places quietly
so as to better be able to
observe the wild life.

at the ramp, like it has already been said,
it is not a problem to jump in the water in
warm weather, but you can not beat waders
for having to go into the water when it is
cold out.

presently I have no waders, but I have a pair of Chota
Quick lace MukLuk boots, they work very well just as
long as I pay very close attention to how deep the
water is when I approach the launch ( or before I j
ump in the boat when launching )

@JRclassics,

I'm a speed freak... I "accidently" left the wheels down once... I thought my engine was in the last throes of it's existence, lol. I have a need for speed that transom wheel drag just won't help, lol.

Do you get the sense I have had a lot of "accidents", lmao. Living and learning.... ;)

It's funny how all that extra drag can easily simulate a lame duck engine!!

Re: What do you use to Launch and Recover your boat

was coming in at the launch at the local impoundment,
got out and got the launch wheel deployed.

some kids come running up asking if we can rescue
their soccer ball?

I ask my bud to row out and get the ball ( had already ran
as much gas out of the carb as possible and did not want
to muck with it further ) while I got the car.

When he comes back, I asked him how it rowed,
"Like it had an anchor tied to it"
well the wheel were down,
duh?
