What Distributor For 5.7L Non-Vortec?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a distributor to suit a 5.7L non-Vortec SBC with a 4 BBL Quadrajet carburetor, JEGS intake and mechanical fuel pump.

After reading online, the "Thunderbolt" distributors seems very popular but as far as I know, my previous non-Vortec 5.0 didn't use that type of distributor.

What are the benefits and can I use it for my application?

The thunderbolt was used for all carbs until EFI's came out but was still used for the MPI for the first run. Afterwards they went to the Delco EST. Either one should work for your setup IMO

Im running a Mallory YLM624AV dizzy. now that SeaStar Solutions owns the mallory name, its also available thru Sierra as 18-5495-1

they used to be under $300, now they are about $360
