I have a busted caliper , so nice of the dealer to not mention that, and I got an inspection sticker from the dealer as well!!!(used trailer). anyway I need to replace it...LOADRITE wont take calls, they refer you to your local dealer... Id like to just buy the caliper online.... I don't want to drive to my "nearest" loadrite dealer..unless it absolutely needed. I see on a brochure I have they install OPTIONAL Kodiack brakes.....im wondering if anyone knows the brand they regularly use.... dual axle aluminum 5 star model 5200 lbs.......#5S-AC25T520000102TB1

Used?

Don't assume anything. Crawl underneath and take a look. The differences between Kodiak and Tiedown are easily distinguished.

There is nothing to "bust" in a caliper. If it's not seized up, save yourself $75 and get a rebuild kit.

ha....your one size fits all explanation falls short!!...one whole ear of the caliper casting is broken off and gone on the outside of the caliper..... I guess I need to pull the wheels again and take a look for the makers mark( not the whiskey!!)

that might be a clue right there...that would be a good trick on a Kodiak given the beefy design

st I can tell they offer 3 or4 different calipers,, #1=no name, #2= G5 or G2( cant remember) #-3Tie down, and #-4 UDC brand..

in any case..... I broke down and "did the right thing" and went to LOADRITE... they refer everyone to their LOCAL dealer....ughhh, oook.... called the local dealer and they said they don't stock trailer parts "per se" they just send everyone to another local trailer house...AJZ trailer supply. oooookkkk I call AJZ trailer supply and that guy says, JUST go to EASTERN TRAILER SUPERSTORE and tell them what you want....... what a vicsous cycle.... while I use trailerparts super store a lot.... I didn't know what specific caliper they used on my trailer.... and where do I end up..... at the place I would go anyway....but I wanted to get it right and go to the KNOWLEDGABLE parts guy.... THE MAKER OF THE TRAILER!....what a mistake....... listen folks, youre on your own out there!!!!!!!!!

I called loadrite with that parts page up on my screen to ask which brake caliper I need..... the phone system WILL NOT ALLOW you access to a "parts dept" or and "online parts store".... they force you to your local dealer....... what a messed up company

Whatever you do, don't use tie-down(unless for some reason, that's what you already have). If you do change brands, you will have to change all the calipers.

Post a picture of your existing caliper. Pretty easy to match them up to what you already have.

tie down is a bad brand???
Yes ...they suck. I pulled 4 sets of tie-down disc brakes off my trailer after 1000 miles after 2 stuck calipers and a couple warped discs. Put Kodiac on and no issues since.

well got around to addressing the broken caliper. luckily when I had bought out a marinas parts dept a few years ago, it had a complete disc brake set up....and so I had two brand new calipers exactly like the one that broke(Tie Down Engineering)...as bad as they may be, I went with them because they are an exact fit and they are free!. but I could not bleed the brakes.... my coupler actuator wouldn't pump up pressure... I could move it in and out by HAND.....soo I find out the actuator is shot too!...luckily(again) I had a new take off that looks like it got bent early on... so I switched it over.. although I didn't install the little electrical device that gets triggered from the brakes to allow you to back up with out locking the brakes.....it backs up ok...but if you get too much resistance... the brake start locking up.... so I think backing down a ramp should be ok....but I need to remove that device from the old actuator and get it on my new actuator..

Is this new actuator a disc brake model? If it is drum, you will need to remove the residual valve or your brakes will drag.

im sure it was a drum brake model because on the top was a sticking reading,"NOT READY FOR DISC BRAKES".... it looks like the only difference is a small valve on the after end of the actuator that is electrically controlled by a blue wire from the vehicle. im guessing that when you put the truck in reverse a signal shuts the hydraulics in this valve...so the actuator has no effect..... I backed my trailer up a few times and it rolls fine...once I hit a small bump putting in in its spot , the brakes did lock up a little, I saw the tire drag mark but once I was over the little bump, the drag mark stopped...guessing the tire started rolling again....well at least I have brakes.... before I had NOTHING, AND I had 3" of motion in and out when trailering...making a lot of noise...I thought it sounded like more than just the normal play in the hitch and reciever fit!!
