May be just carbs and reed block. The engine block, exhaust housing, and ignition system the same. Most of the time I don,t reply to these post, but thought I would look at parts book. Timming, link, and sycn may be different.

Re: What diffrence betwen......?

We go through this all the time. The main difference is the reed stops. They are very closed on the 40 compared to a 50 or 2 cylinder 60. You can open the stops or install Boyesen reeds, HOWEVER, experience shows us that if you are only turning 5000-5500 now you may not see any gain. You would have to be running on a very light boat with a good hull design to see much of a change. Remember, you are still using the same gear ratio, bore and stroke.

Its an easy change - personaly I would do the Boyesen thing and work on the set up.

Let us know how you make out! Good luck!
