What changes can I expect

I have a 1994 Sea Ray 200BR with a 205HP 5.0L. The boat weighs 3100lbs & WOT is 4600. I have a 13.75" x 21" aluminum prop on it now & it works good with that. I have a chance to get 2 brand new stainless steel props for $175 for both. I am curious as to what performance chances I will see.

Prop #1 is a Michigan Wheel 3 blade 13.75" x 21" SS

Prop #2 is a Michigan Wheel Apollo 4 blade 14.125" x 20" SS

Thanks

You usually get better top end and hole shot going to a decent SS prop. The 4 blade 20" will help with hole shot and also allow the boat to plane at a slower speed. I would think either prop would work well for your boat, so it all depends on what you are trying to do with the prop change.

Just a clarification. A SS of the same pitch and blade configuration usually slows hole shot and will reduce WOT RPM but increase top speed. This is because they are more efficient (thinner blades) and flex less. Aluminums tend to lose a little pitch when loaded sooooo effectively a 21 inch Aluminum may act like a 20 inch, where the SS would maintain it's shape and work more like a 21. This shows up as slip. Often it is recommended to go down an inch when you got to Stainless, and the same thing is often said for a four blade . . . So I could see both of these props cutting into your hole shot, but improving your top end a little with WOT RPM dropping about 200 RPM . . . Good luck and let us know.
