What battery do I need??

I just purchased a new Minnkota 30lb thrust elec. motor for my 12' alum. I need a battery so I was wondering what size battery do I need and do they make them in a compact version, like smaller than the normal car battery size.

Just to make sure the 30lb should do well enough for a 12' alum with two guys and a small Johnson 4hp....right??:$

Smaller is never, EVER better as far as batteries are concerned. You should buy the biggest, heaviest battery you can afford. It will last much longer in both the number of cycles before it dies, and the amount of time you can spend trolling.

Doh!! Thanx for moving thread. Ease of portability was all for gewtting a small battery. I guess bigger is better. Ima thinking 800-900CCA marine deep cycle?
