What are these "ports"??

So I have a '78 800 merc I've been fixing up. After replacing most of the fuel components, I finally have it running, and it seems to be running fairly well, but its doing something I don't think its supposed to.

There are two small "ports" on the motor (indicated by the red arrows in the attached pic), and when the engine is running, water sprays out of it... I have no idea what they are there for, but it just doesn't seem right to me... And the "pee stream" is nice and steady, so it doesn't seem to be affecting that at all... So is this something I should worry about, or just be happy its finally running and get it on the water??

Hello AugustMoose87

Seems like exhaust ports. Alittle water is common from exhaust. As long as the "pee" stream is good and motor isnt overheating your fine.

It perfectly normal actually, exhaust relief ports, water SHOULD be coming from there.

Thank goodness. Long story short, I was an idiot and in the process of rebuilding the motor, cracked the exhaust extension plate... I had a buddy braze it for me, and we both thought it looked like it would be sealed... When it started doing that, I was worried that we didn't get it sealed, so I'm relieved to know that it is normal.

Thanks for all the quick replys!!!
