Both Massive and suttle.

lets assume that your engines are seviced by professional mechanics annually,
from season to season, what signals should we be aware of to aviod total engine destruction , from Water infulx.

Nb We are in Australia and do not winterise boats. we use them through the winter.

also any specifics on mercruiser 165 L6 would be helpfull

Re: What are the tell tail signs of Manifold Failure

Water getting into the cylinders and causing a hydrolock is one thing to watch for. May only be a slight hesitation in the cranking at first. Rust streaks around the riser/manifold connection. In salt water, it would be a good idea to pull the risers anually and have a look at the gasket surfaces and outlet ports of the risers and manifolds after about 5 years. When the gasket surfaces get real thin, replace them before the damage occurs.

You don't mention your engine year, but you can download an OEM service manual at this link.
