Ok I am not new to boating and honesly have a lot of friends that are boat owners. We all have our own opininons on what are must have tools while boating.

SO IF YOU WERE TO START FRESH AND HAVE A NEW PLASTIC PLANO TOOL BOX ABOARD YOUR BOAT WHAT WOULD YOU FILL IT WITH?

A stick of marine epoxy ..... the stuff you tear a chunk off and knead it. Works on fiberglass, metal, fuel tanks and under water.

Filter wrench, electrical kit incuding multimeter, 6" & 10" crecents, flat & Phillips driver bits, flashlight, small hammer, vice grips, needle nose & channel locks, socket set with spark plug socket, ratchet & extensions, razor knife & wrench set 7/16 to 1". would be a good start, there will always be something you need but don't have. I have inboards & forgot to add a prop nut wrench if you have a in/out or outboard.

I have always just put the box out of my truck into the boat before launching and it is equipt minus the engine puller to be able to pull an engine and or repair anything on it and most important common sence but I do have a hard time imagining packing a pistol around my kid's but then again I don't live in Texas or near pirate infested waters (no offense JB)

I feelon the water you are really limited to what you can fix, obvously your not gonna pull the head on the water so I take just the basic tools to get me out of light failures.

Pliers,2 small crescent wrenches, tape, screw drivers, the socket to get my air box off, plugs and a wrench, just basic stuff.

a radio, first aid kit, coast guard kit with flares and tow insurance first and foremost. honestly, if you don't know your boat well enough to have to ask what tools fix what, then maybe you shouldn't try. knowing your boat, knowing your mechanical ability and common sense will tell you what to fill your toolbox with.

Sorry maybe you missed the point,

Was just trying to start a "fun" topic.

Maybe a new boater could get some Ideas, Oh well maybe wrong thing to do if people are going to take offence.

I do own 3 boats and have been boating since I was 12 ( drunken father couldnt handle his booze) that makes it 22 years of experience.

If moderator wants to delete this post it is fine.

There's always that one person that has to ruin a good thread.

The pistol is only for certain fishing destinations where a confrontation with dangerous wildlife/critter might occur. I prefer those destinations over congested waters.

Back in the 80s when I fished the Gulf Stream it was a SS Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 Mag. Never came out of the bag, but I felt more secure.

Every boater started out knowing nothing, scutly. The wise ones asked questions and got courteous, helpful answers.

Any or all of the above mentioned stuff.
One thing I do for the above stuff that stay on the boat is to vacuum seal them in foodsaver bags.
Keeps the moisture away during weather swings as well as the salty air away, etc.
Including a cheap revolver, I would never pack a semi-auto.
