What are the hoses on the powerhead

my merc 50 has three hoses jumpering around the powerhead. One was busted could this be the reason for bad performance?

If you are talking about bleed hoses, Yes, they could cause bad performance.

the are three hoses on the side of the motor they jumper around the cylinders it looks like and then go to the front of the engine......What are they for. One was severed. Any explanation you can give me would be appreciated as Im trying to learn as much about these motors as possible to keep it away from the money hungry shops.

These are bleed hoses that take gas from the crank case and recycles it. There are check valves in one end, be sure they work properly.
