Due to my disability I am forced to sell my little 14' DeepV, outboard fishing boat. I plan on buying an older Bass Boat to replace it. I'm looking for a large engine and am not to picky on the condition vanity wise. What should I be looking for that would indicate an honest seller? Would buying through a dealer be more wise. Any hints or tips on any problems specific to Bass Boats would be greatly appreciated. Also, how difficult are they to launch and retrieve single handedly, and what is the best type of trailer to use. What should I look for as far as compression tests etc.? Thanks for any help..................

Most bass boats on the right trailer can be driven on and off the trailer easily. Now that I have passed the three quarter century mark I find the problem is getting from the truck to the boat and vice versa. Walking a 3? wide trailer tongue and climbing up onto the boat gets a little more difficult every year. I currently have a 20? Nitro and climbing up on the pointy bow and around the trolling motor is the hard part of my day. I am planning on adding a walkboard and some type of step or ladder to my trailer this year.

I find the low freeboard is very nice for docking and getting on and off at a dock. Since most all my friends I used to fish with have either passed on or just can?t get around well enough to fish 90% of the time I fish alone so I am also thinking of getting a smaller boat to make it less of a problem.

The main requisites are; Electric Start, power trim and tilt, and side console helm. Center consoles make great fishing boats but docking and hooking lines to cleats is much easier if you can do it sitting and not have to leave the helm.

Sorry I can?t help with how to find a honest person to buy a boat from. I have been around long enough that I don?t trust anyone trying to sell me something.

Welcome aboard:

THIS LINK has some really good stuff on buying a used boat. IMHO, a dealer can be just as much of a problem as buyin' from a guy off Craigslist. You have to watch both of them.

Losta' different types of bass boats out there. What are the advantages you see in using a bass boat vs. your V Hull?
