what all has to be done to a chevy 350 long block

I have a 1978 searay that has a bad motor, i have read alot of posts saying that you can use a chevy 350 long block but it has to be modified does anyone know the steps to take?

Composite head gaskets, 'n brass core plugs,...

Basically a marine cam or advancing cam timing 4 degrees. Thats what I did on mine. 350s are bulletproof. Head gaskets and brass plugs matter if you are gonna run on salt water. Lake water should be fine
