I heard they're prosecuting the kid. I'm not sure what I think about that but I think his father needs to do some time for leaving a loaded weapon where the kid could find it!<br /><br />What do you think?

Heard three very different stories on gossip TV.<br /><br />1. The gun went off while in his packpack.<br />2. He shot the girl accidentally.<br />3. He shot the girl after trying to rob her.<br /><br />Haven't heard what measures, if any, the gun owner took to keep it away from the boy. Gun owner should probably be prosecuted unless the boy committed burglary to get it.<br /><br />Too little and too conflicting news reports to draw any conclusion at all.

Happened in Germantown, MD - north of DC.

GERMANTOWN, Md. -- The father of the young boy, suspected of shooting a girl at a daycare center in Germantown, is being held on $75,000 bond. <br /><br />John Lynwood Hall faces a total of five charges, including leaving a firearm accessible to an un-supervised minor and illegal possession of a gun. <br /><br />Hall has an extensive criminal record dating to the 1960s, according to charging documents. It includes several convictions of assault with intent to maim and gun charges. He could be sentenced to five years in prison if convicted of being a felon in possession of a handgun and three years on the delinquency of a minor charge.

The story I heard was that they booked the kid so that they could buy some time to determine if he needed to be placed into protective custody. It appears they never intended to prosecute the kid . . .

I heard the charges on the kid were to get to the gangsta dad - something about he had all kinds of run ins with the law dating back to the 60's. With his conviction record he never should have been in possession of a gun for the kid to have gotten it out of the closet. Heard he had 5 guns in his home.

To loosely paraphrase a favorite point JB likes to make, "we can't pass judgement until we have all the facts."<br /><br />Now that the paraphrasing is done, this guy needs to be locked up. I've heard that they might put the kid in protective custody. Is there a mom in this picture?
