Has anyone tried these and what did you think of them. I want to do a through hull but I don't want the negative aspect of pissing people off at the ramps or in their home at the lake.

Can't see them? or find them? But if you use 3" or 4" rubber exhaust hose between the tips, & transom, it will absorb some of the noise. They even have straight thru baffled solid rubber mufflers I've used that sound mellow as glasspacks on a 350/260, while still delivering a nice sound.

Here's the ones I've used Salisburys:

Re: what about these ?

exhaust takes the path of least resistance. I don't see how those would sound any different than straight thru hulls with the y pipe removed and blocked off.

go out to your car and cut a 3" hole through the muffler.
now remove the muffler.
sound any different?
nope.

I suppose you could physically clamp caps on the rear of the boat to cap off the thru hulls and then it would go out the y pipe again when you wanted it quiet.

Aren't they the "Silent Choice" type exhaust, that lets you switch between thru-hull, & thru-prop?

Those appear to just be splitters, I don't see any type of valve that would allow switching action. Which makes them pointless because the exhaust is going to go out the transom (path of least resistance) like kjdkjd said.

Adding a switchable system like that is a lot of money and work just for the sound. I have driven a boat with a Corsa Quick + Quiet system and other than the noise level there is no noticeable difference in performance and if you boat in saltwater it is something else in the exhaust tract that corrodes.

In my opinion if you're not running a high horsepower or supercharged engine its probably not worth it although I do like the sound.
