I had plans to get the rotors and drums off my Ranger to have turned tomorrow.
Well, my other truck was full of junk and ready for the trip to the dump. Got in, and tried to start it. It turned real slow... Jumped it, and it finally started. Shut it off and tried a start again. NOPE. Turned real slow.

Can't be the battery, cause it's not even a year old, and when I try to jump it with my 200 amp charger, it practically set my starter to switch cable on fire!

It's been turing real slow for some time. I always figured it was because the engine is real tight, and has a ton of compression. :)

It had to be the starter. Only thing left in the equation. Ok, no problem. Starters are cheap for this rig.
I break out the wrenches, and go to it.
Got all bolts loose. DAMN HEADERS!
Devine intervention wouldn't help here.
Had to completely loosen/remove the header. What a pain. Now the starter just falls to the ground.

To the parts house (trip 1) Got the starter, gaskets for headers, and some anti-seize. The header bolts took 5 white knuckles, a few colorful metaphors, and a flying wrench or two.
(I knew I should have put the anti-seize on the first time...)
Get home. Try to stuff starter in... More colorful metaphors. You'd think it would go in easier this time around. DAMN HEADERS.

OK, starter is in. New starter to switch cable is in. Now the header. Damn..wrong gaskets!
Ford made a few different ones here, and the header type are smaller. DAMN HEADERS!

Off to parts house (trip 2)

Back home. Took 10 minutes. Gaskets in, starter in, all is well. Starts nicely. Few exhaust leaks, but that's a header for you. Forget it.
Made it to the dump with 1/2 hour to spare before closing.

Anyone on this board has my permission to kick my *ss if I ever put headers in one of my cars again!

Back to my Ranger. Good news here. The drums and rotors came off quick. Very simple.
The money I will save over a pro brake job will buy me a nice set of Rancho shocks for it! :)

Time for a beer....

Hope everyone had a nice day.

H.

Re: What a day!

Sound kind of like mine...

Got home last night about 1:00 am with a headache, two tylenol and hit the bed... (not out partying just visiting friends who live a ways up the road)

2:30 am Just got to sleep, Cats fighting under my bedroom window, went out and turned the hose on em'... problem solved right?...

4:00 am The cats are back at it... The hell with it, let em fight... I'm too tired to care...

6:30 More cats, and still the tylenol ain't kicking in...

After tossing & turning guess I fell asleep about 7:30... time too get up...

Breakfast is leftover papa johns cini-pie, stuck a piece in the microwave for 20 seconds and proceed to eat it hot.... Well, the sugar topping stuff sticks to the roof of my mouth and procceds to burn the crap out of my mouth...
Did I mention I still have a headache?...

9:00 am Go out to the boat too work on the beast, get a rag and some acetone to clean a spot for some filler putty.... Got a good whif of the acetone and boy let me tell ya that REALLY helps a headache... NOT! Add a bit of polyester filler putty and I'm hateing life now...

11:00 am Putty sets up and I get out my trusty DA sander and proceed to (whoops) turn my knuckle on my right index finger into hamburger... That feels soooo good...

All bandaged up... Humm, A Hamburger would be good for lunch... Hop in the truck, fire it up and it sounds like it's only hittin' on 7 cylinders, and I don't really care to mess with it today cause I've already tore up one finger... A plug change would surely end with another busted knuckle or two....

The line at the BK lounge is about 3 miles long, so it's off to wendys where they screw up my order... Found out when I got home... I ain't going back so I ate it anyways...

Back to the boat project....I obviously don't know what the hells going on cause things seem to be going well for a change, and I'm sure i'll find out what I screwed up tommorow... Ok, now this headache is really starting to hit me so I called it a day a bit early... Head in the house for a shower to knock off the dust and dang it all I forgot to get soap when I was shopping last time...

Nothing in the house for dinner and i ain't going out so it's old salad and pretzels for dinner... YUCK! :(

So here I sit, almost midnight, feeling like total crap and, OH S*** tommorows monday.... BACK TO WORK... I still have this Headache...

How was your day?
