Were powerheads different in same year?

I'm still researching buying a 2000 225-Johnson High Performance outboard that's on a bassboat. It has carburetors and the streamlined lower unit. The Powerhead seems bigger than the oeanpros of the same size that I remember. I'm going to put it on a big/heavy 21 foot fibercraft and use it to ski/cruise/troll. Question is were there bassboat powerheads optimized for high speed/lower torque operations and another powerhead set up for heavy slower boats like my Fibercraft bowrider? Also, I asked a few posts ago but again - is this a good motor? Thanks
