ME and some friends went boating/jet ski on the bay this past weekend. Kinda fun. It was calm in the mornin. Later in the afternoon we went out again to jump some waves. Was a pretty wild ride. Catching some air off some of the swells.

We beached in Sausalito for a couple of hrs. Forgot about the tide, came back to find the jet ski on dry land. Good thing i tied up further back and didn't get stuck.

For me big is over 3-4ft, but I guess they can get real big out there. What are we talking, 20ft? Can you just ride right over them? Do you have to deal with them breaking over the boat?

Where did you set in? Alameda? Or Redwood city? Did you go under the GG ?
I've been thinking about this. Sausalito is pretty sweet and I would love to head over to Angel Island some day.

Re: Went to SF with my tiny boat

We were launcing off 4ft+ swells. I had the bow covered so not much water getting in. My friends on the jet ski said we cought air a few times going over the waves. I have a 18ft boat

We set in sausalito, I went under the GG but did not veture out in the ocean side. Didn't get to go to angel island.

I defenetly want to go back. Next time probably plan for a whole day if not weekend. We were there just for a minute. Had other family stuff going on.

I've heard that McCovey Cove, next to the ballpark, has a GREAT view for the 4th of July fireworks. I've got it on my "want to" list for next year.
I'll be doing my first venture out on the Bay come spring time. Great weekend to go out, though. Not much wind up in Sac, so I imagine the Bay was nice too. Great shark and stingray fishing over by the San Mateo / Dumbarton bridge...and if you sink, the water is shallow enough that you can stand on your bow until someone comes out to get you :D
