Changed my NGK's to Champion QL77JC4 gapped at .030 today in my 1987 Johnson 70hp -
Thought it'd was'nt going to start - had to really "choke" it several times to crank it
It finnially did & ran fine (on muffs)
Question is should i give them a chance in the water this weekend or is the not starting right up a sign to stay with the NGK's :(

Had to choke it several times= needed enough fuel to fire over. Not a plug fault at all.
Test in the water. If sluggish you may be developing a fuel restriction.(dirty carb)

probaly not the plugs fault ql77jc4s are good plugs for your application
if ya have good stator you can try ul77v surface gap but theres not a lot of difference ,ive tryed ngk but was not impressed.ya may have other probs with the hard start check your comps and spark test . and link and sink
does your motor have primer or choke plates
