Hi, new to forum and was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a wiring diagram for a 2004 22' coastal cuddy cabin. Here's the problem; bought the boat used and apparently at some point both the aft bilge pump and float switch were replaced. When they were replaced some wires were cut and pulled so, I can't tell how they were original wired. Both the pump and switch test as working, hot wired the pump and checked the switch but, I can't manually activate the pump using the dashboard switch and the float switch doesn't activate the pump either. I'm at a total loss here. Appreciate any help, thanks!

Re: Wellcraft wiring diagram

Here you go. Check the continuity of the wire from Dash to pump, you might have a broken wire or wrong wire. Test the switch for 12v as well as the float switch. Here is a wiring diagram of how it should be set up. Most boats have "ground" bus as well as a "12v" bus, I just didn't draw it in and used the symbol for ground instead. View attachment 121329

First I'd check the switch has 12vdc, than I'd check the wire to the pump for splices etc.. make sure it is sound. Than make sure the pump has a good ground. Than do the same for the float switch. It should have continuity when in the up position if you hook an ohm meter to both wires coming off float.

Hi, thanks for your response. I tired the things you suggested previously. Everything checks but still the pump doesn't activate. The float switch checks out and when I put water in the bilge the indicator light on the dashboard comes on but, not the pump. Oh, checked the dash switch as well and it appears to be OK.I was unable to open the attachment. I sent an em to
Wellcraft but have heard nothing from them. Nice to know you can rely on the OEM. Any chance you could attach it as a pdf? Thanks for all the help.

Sure thing, I'll do it after I get off work today. Just to be sure, you don't have anything more than one switch for the bilge pump? And it does have an indicator light at the console?

Re: Wellcraft wiring diagram

Ok here it is a little bit more in depth. It really depends on the way your boat is set up. On my 17' ski boat, the switch is a 2 position on off switch that manually turns pump on. The automatic float is connected directly to the battery positive and works whenever it gets water in it. View attachment 121632

Some boats have the automatic float go through a switch, so that the operator can control if it operates at all or not View attachment 121634

When I read your first post about hot wiring the pump I thought you just connected the pump leads to the battery to test operation? Have you ever seen the pump work? If the switch is good, the float is good, and if the wiring is done like the 2nd diagram, than the pump has got to be bad. If its like the 2nd diagram, for the light to lite up, the circuit must be going through the pump, which means the wires are okay. If yours is not wired like that, than its gotta be the wire from the switch to the pump.

Check the easiest solution first....does the pump work when connected directly to battery? Let me know what you find out

Re: Wellcraft wiring diagram

Hi, thanks again for your help. I still can't open the attachments sent an em to the adm of the forum. If its not too much trouble perhaps you could send them to this em address, caliber260@yahoo.com. I did hot wire the pump to the battery and confirmed it works. the float on my boat is connected directly to the battery, when there is water in the bilge the float turns and indicator light on on the dash. There is also a switch, battery has to be on, to manually run the bilge pump. The really confusing part is that the pump works, the float works but, the system does not. I believe its related to whoever replaced the float and pump and snipped and removed some wires. I also have a forward pump. What did to check the switch itself was to disconnect the aft bilge and connect it to the forward bilge switch, assumed both switches wouldn't be bad. Even with using the forward switch the aft bilge still did not work. Totally confusing. Appreciate your hanging in there to help me out.

Re: Wellcraft wiring diagram

Well if independently the switches work, light works, float works and pump works, than I suspect there has got to be a bad connection somewhere. or, maybe someone wired the light wrongly... electricity takes the path of least resistance and all that, so maybe it is shorting itself out somewhere. Is the forward pump tied into the circuit somehow?

Check the continuity of all wires..make a jumper and apply 12vdc at any applicable splices in the wires. Work it backwards until you find the problem, let us know what you find
