New to boats and just bought a 1997 Wellcraft with Volvo inboard outboard. Analog trim gaugle on the dash. The trim is all the way up. When I push the trim button on the throttle it does not go down nor does it make any noise. I followed the wireing harness and where it splits to a larger red and black plug I have power. I also found were the rest of the harness goes to a plug with the rest of the 3 wires. One is hot and I assume the other 2 are the down and up. (Both plugs to side and rear of engine) It got dark before I could test ohmes between the other 2 wires.
I checked the reset on the pump and it is not triped. Also the red on the pump is hot. so I am guessing the switch is bad. Do the switchs go bad where both up and down go at once? I would think one or the other would go and odds are both wont.
I have read another forum where they were having issue with going down but up works. They were talking about relays. I cant seem to see any on the pump or under the dash. Any insight on this?
There is also a toggle switch on the dash. Is this the override to allow it to come all the way up for beach?
If I need to replace the switch is this a standard part or OEM specific? Also how do I remove the throttle (think that is what its called) handle to get to the swtich?
Thanks for any and all help.
