I've got a '93 Volvo 430 4.3L with SP CD Trim lower unit.

I took the boat out two weeks ago and the trim worked fine. Within the past two weeks, my stereo was cut out of the boat (stolen) and wires to my older, but still functioning CB were cut as well.

I got the CB and new stereo wired in, and took it out on the lake today. Trim worked fine going down, but would not trim up. Also, the horn no longer works.

The trim and horn rocker switches are side by side on the dash, but I'm not seeing any loose wires nor are any of the fuses blown.

Needless to say, I can't get the boat back up the ramp without dragging the lower unit. I need help ASAP as the marina is only letting me use a slip for tonight.

Note, when I use the trim up toggle on the throttle control, I hear a slight clicking coming from one or both of the small (1 inch by 1 inch) silver relay switches back in the engine compartment.

PLEASE HELP!!!

OK, getting the drive back up is not that big a deal as long as the pump motor still works. Coming off the pump is 2 wires. A green one and a blue one.
Disconnect the connector going to the wiring harness. Make yourself a couple of jumper wires with some small allagator clips on the ends.
Now, hook one on the blue (up wire of the pump) and hook it to the positive battery terminal. Then hook your second jumper cable to the ground on the battery and touch it to the green wire on the trim pump motor. The drive will go up. If not reverse them...... Something is backwards but not a problem at this point.

Don,

Thanks for the "etiquette tip" earlier... just too frustrated this weekend (stereo theft and trim problems) but should have known better.

Also thanks for the trick to get the trim back up. Besides the quick fix, how can I determine the real source for the problem? How do I know if the trim pump is bad? Or the relays? Or the wiring?
