Wellcraft Eclipse 216 Prop Advice!

Alright guys I need some help. I hava a 1992 Wellcraft eclipse 216, which has a cuddy, also has the 350 mag wiith an alpha one. I believe it has 260-300hp, empty weight is 3300. That being said I bought this from someone a few months ago, the guy was running a aluminum 15 inch dia. with 17pitch prop. Came out of the water pretty good topped out around 45mph at 4600rpms. Well then while in shallow water I hit a log and bent it just a hair but enough to give a little vibration so I went looking for another prop. Found a mechanic that pretty much loaned me one to see if I would like it. He said the dia of the one I had was to big for that boat so he gave me a 14.25 inch dia with a 19 pitch prop. So I put it on and played a little. Doesnt seem to wanna come out of the water as quick as it did before. Top Speed is around the same but only running 4200rpms. So IDK what to do and I want some advice or help in what size and pitch prop to get. Somewhat new to boats so any help would be great. I want more acceleration then top end, I plan on using the boat to ski and tube behind but i dont wanna loose tooo much of my top end. I like my 45mph top speed. Anyone have any suggestions?

Would you like alum or ss? If you could post the gearing of your drive it should be stamped on the outdrive.

Or you could just put another 15 X 17 on it, since it was running fine with that prop. Better yet, put a Solas 15.5 X 17 on it for even better acceleration.

Your '92 350 MAG is rated at 240 hp @ 4400 rpm. The WOT rpm range is 4200-4600 rpm. So at 4600 rpm, you're right there for water sports.

You're running at a 10% slip; which doesn't get much better with a 3300 lb boat.

I agree,a big heavy boat needs more diameter than a smaller/lighter 18 or 19 footer..

@ Tail Gunner: I want aluminum. I think S.S. is useless for, not enough benefits to justify spending 3X the money.

@ Jestor68: Yeah I thought about putting the same prop on but then I thought that this is the perfect opportunity to see if there another prop the would be better. Also not trying to doubt ur knowledge or insult you but what makes you think its 240hp? Because I was told that its rated at 300hp and 4600-5000 rpm WOT. That there is a 5.7L which has 260hp and the 350 Mag has 300hp.

I just ordered a Hustler turning point 4 blade 14.5 X 17. Heard the 4 blade will give me better acceleration and cornering and wouldnt loose to much on top end. The other day I had it out, Calm water with the 14.25 X 19 prop on her running 50 mph @ 4500 rpm.

That level of performance seem more in line with you combo.A 1993 350 should have a 275-300 hp engine..is this a 4bl engine. I have the same hull in a 19' that did 55 with a 4.3. I would take a close look at the timimg carb and tach. Verify each timing is very suspect in marine I/O's people shoot from the hip a lot. Google thunder bolt v timing procedure's

Hustler's seem to be all over the place in result's so dont be surprised with the result's.

Because that's what the Mercruiser data base says it's rated at. Look it up. A '92 350 Mag is not the same as a 2010 350 Mag. It was 240 until '95 when it went to 250/265(carb/efi) and didn't go to 300 until '98. It stayed at 300 after that.

I did do some more research and found out the same info you did about HP and RPM thank you.

I also took the boat out again and im running at 4400rpm with the 14.25 X 19 Hustler. So the new prop 14.5 X 17 4 blade should be in tuesday so well see what I get out of that and ill update this.
