Hi, all:

I have a Wellcraft 190 ccf (nice boat, I like it) which uses the pushbutton circuit breakers mounted on the front panel next to the switches they control. The "Electronics" breaker has gone south-- the only one without a switch next to it-- and I can not tell what amperage it is to replace it. I looked up the part number but it showed breakers running from 2 to 20 amperes. It's bound to be fairly hefty, it's fed with a piece of 12 gauge wire, so I'd guess it's the 10, 15 or 20 amp model, but there does not appear to be any markings to show which, or perhaps they are so deteriorated I can't read them. All my electronics are fuse protected, so I have bridged around it temporarily, but I'd like to replace it to protect the feeder wire. Any idea what amperage would be needed? I need hardly mention I can't find a wiring diagram for the silly thing, either. Thanks for the help. Fish on!

If you can trace the wire or "find out what is not working" we could come up with the best guess solution. A 12AWG wire would be no more then 20 but as you mentioned could be less.

Re: Wellcraft 190ccf circuit breakers

It's the "electronics" breaker. When I got the boat it fed the radio and sonar. About the first thing I did was install a 6-place fuse panel so I could separate the birds nest behind the panel-- the previous owner was appatently not electrically inclined-- and replace the sonar with a more modern model. Before the breaker went out, if fed only the fuse panel I installed. Since it went out, I bridged around it. The electronics are, of course, individually protected with appropriate size fuses in the panel, but I'd like to protect the wire feeding the panel back to battery. The fuse panel now feeds the sonar, a pair of 1/20th amp led deck lights and a 10 amp accessory plug for the spotlight, cell phone charger, whatever. The old radio was fried, so I ditched it; one of these days I'll probably replace it and feed it there. At the presemt time, I have no further fiture use planned.

You should have a breaker near the battery for the feed to your fuse panel.

Since it is used for a feed circuit and the wire is 12AWG I would use a 20AMP. As you mentioned, the other electronics are all protected separately.
